Selling Sunday
02:45
|
|||
Serving only to divide
So profits fit the margin line
They kill any chance to rebuild
Only to enrich themselves
Fear is not hard to sell
To those that hide behind gold idols
The written word as their only hope
Corruption is the language spoke
Pulpits built on lies
Enslaving the simple minds
They know only what they've been sold
Too weak to question substance
Too meek so they follow straight to
The gallows of fairy tale shadows
Nailed to the cross of deception
Breeding the calf of resentment
They live with no
Regret
Their bullshit reigns
As long as their wallet gains
They have you digging your own fucking grave
Sold you the shovel and said here's your king

Choices made
And picked apart
From the outside
Somewhere between
A lie and
A fire
Drowning in
The flames of a gaslight
The virtue signals
Like bombs in the air
Another day goes by
Buried in thoughts and prayers
Attacking the foundation
To dismiss the suffering
Words like matchsticks
And we're dancing in kerosene
To disappear
Into the darkness
Just to find
Hope for the hopeless
Nothing done
Nothing learned
heritage of fear
in this history of death
For centuries
No lessons learned
Closing their eyes
To those that burn
We are still here(suffering)
For... now...

You're afraid
To lose the standing
That you never earned
Who makes the judgment
Do you feel safe
In your own truth
A voice you never use
A mouth that never opens
Too afraid to choose
You're so fucking hopeless
Falling on both sides
How do we make progress
When all we see is lies
Protecting your own interests
You have no semblance of integrity
You are a fucking coward and that's the irony
Of when you're standing there
Trying to show your strength
A simple broken shell
A wounded wolf amongst sheep
Never could stand tall
Under the weight of your attempts
To be a fucking man
But still not getting the concept
We refuse (group), refuse to let you forget
The blood that your hands are fucking soaked in
The blood of innocence
And your own self righteousness

So many years
Hiding in plain sight
Red hats are white hoods
Badges on murderers
There's nothing left to fucking burn
A cult with no personality
The rank and file licking the boots of insecurity
Kneeling to the masters of oppression
Buying their red white and blue deception
The ignorant never fucking learn
Blinded by their own denial
Putting their faith into institutional liars
Raining blood sold as the sacrament
To wash away any trace of melanin
Reigning blood, long lines of precedent
Misleading the fearful for their own self interest
To reject the reality in your eyes
To break away from morality for their lies

Hooked at the first kiss
I fell deep in your lies
Days, nights, weeks disappeared
Every time i closed my eyes
Clouded memories that never were
And vivid dreams of goodbyes
All the bridges that we never crossed
They didn't burn from this side
You were always the match in my hand
But together the flames could only burn so bright
The decade of your influence
Is my decade of regret
I know rock bottom even better than
I could hope to know myself
The floor has been my bitter friend
So many times I lost count
We couldn't dance this dance forever
Telling secrets in the dark

Music or the Misery
02:41
|
|||
Shining eyes and fake smiles
Masking pain with lies
Playing hide and seek with the happiness you find
Secrets deeply held
Of a victory never felt
Trying to hold on to every
Little piece of yourself
But feeling alone in your hell
You're not alone
You're always looking at
The only life you have left
Drowning all your suffering
At the expense of all else
So open are your wounds
That you can barely disguise
All of the darkness that you keep
So hidden behind your walls
Those dreams so close
Waking to only fall
Short of the distance it takes to
Show them all you are
You know you've already come so far
You got so far
But you keep reaching back
To a past you barely had
It slips through your hands and
Straight into a shot glass
Forget those memories
Glory days bring death

Watching the world through disappointed eyes
So many aspirations never realized
Left, or right
Paralyzed by fight or flight
Is this my life
Dreaming of a future
Despite the failures of the past
Can I roll the dice again?
Just give me another chance
This time will be better than the last
This cant be all I have
Drowning in a life less traveled
Am I where I was always meant to be?
Right here
Holding on
Still screaming
There's gotta be someone left to listen
In the darkness
Of another empty room
Off in the distance
I can see the spotlight shining on another broken promise
Of what I thought that I could be
Another life lost dead inside of me
The headlights
Like a sharpened knife
Severed
Every choice made leading me to finding myself not falling short again

My Dear Enemy
03:19
|
|||
Never let them rise
You're always breaking
Down the progress
Of those you deem unworthy
In your eyes
Just because you
Can not relate
To the turning of the world outside of you
You always think
That you're the hero
but everyone
Is a villain in
Someone else's story
So don't believe the lies
And stop comparing
Everyone has
Their own way to cope
With the choices
That they live with
And you will never
Know the extent of their own lack of self worth
You don't always have to be right
And you don't have to understand
So don't you fucking judge someone
For not living your plan
They won't ever live up to your expectations
They don't have to live up to your expectations
Their life is not your life
Its not your life
And their story isn't written in your book
